Navigating "Lanes" with DJ Hines

In this episode, Tim welcomes Darrell “DJ” Hines. DJ serves as a chief operating officer at Christian Faith Fellowship Church. He is a father, husband, and entrepreneur. DJ shares about what attracted him to the ministry and what he has learned about communication serving others through his ministry. According to DJ, it starts with relationship building. You have to make sure the team has a clear understanding of the vision and the tools they need in order to execute, so you can trust them and depend on your team. That comes with time and understanding how to properly and effectively delegate because you cannot do it all by yourself. It is important that we embrace the change because resisting change only keeps you behind time.

Episode highlights:

15:04 – I realized that not everyone can be managed the same way. Sometimes you have to allow people to thrive the way that they can thrive.

21:07 – Three things were important for us to continue during the Covid pandemic: 1) make sure that people could receive the Gospel; 2) make sure that we continue to touch the community; 3) we wanted to create opportunities for the congregation to continue the fellowship.

24:41 – Church has a responsibility to social issues, to political issues, because we have a certain level of influence.

33:55 – If the man or a woman of God who holds the microphone passes their season then we run the risk of losing that generation. It is about leadership understanding their season has come.

29:35 – Your responsibility is to let your light shine. We have to walk in love. That is your ministry. Be Christ-like in dealing with people.
